DESIGNATION CELEBRATION
The 42-mile Suncoast Parkway, part of Florida's Turnpike System, recently added another major designation to its growing list of accolades and awards. The Suncoast Scenic Parkway: Gateway to the Nature Coast has now become the 14th roadway and the first toll road designated as a Florida Scenic Highway. On November 3, 2006 the Corridor Advocacy Group, members of the business community, elected officials, transportation advocates and citizens celebrated the culmination of a process that began in September 2002.
Anderson Snow Sports Complex in Hernando County, adjacent to the Suncoast Parkway, was the host site for activities that included a picnic BBQ lunch, the dedication ceremony, an afternoon family bicycle ride and a 25- mile bicycle ride on the Suncoast Trail that evening.
