Use the tabs below to get information about paying tolls, whether you travel in your personal vehicle, a rental car or an out-of-state vehicle.
All-electronic, no-cash tolling means there are no cash tollbooths to slow you down and everyone has the convenience of paying tolls without stopping. Everyone can drive any lane on Florida’s Turnpike from U.S. 1 (Milepost 0) in Florida City to the Miami-Dade/Broward County line (Milepost 47), where all-electronic tolling is in place. Cash tollbooths are still available on the rest of the Turnpike.
You have three toll payment options when driving a rental vehicle where all-electronic, no cash tolling is in effect:
Not yet a SunPass customer, but would like to purchase a SunPass transponder for use with a rental vehicle? Click on a SunPass link below to purchase online or find a retail location. You may also call SunPass at 1-888-TOLL-FLA from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
You may establish a TOLL-BY-PLATE prepaid account online at www.tollbyplate.com or by calling 1-888-TAG-TOLL (888-824-8655) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. When speaking with a customer representative, provide a major credit card or debit card, the license plate number of the rental car, and the start and end dates of the rental period. It's like being a SunPass customer, but without a transponder. Soon, you will be able to sign up for TOLL-BY-PLATE online.
The TOLL-BY-PLATE invoice option is not available for customers in rental cars; invoices are sent to the registered owner of the vehicle, not the driver.
